CT end of year progress reports will be handed out at the end of term by your coaches so keep an eye out. If you have any further questions about your child’s progress feel free to arrange a meeting with your child’s coach through administration.
Christmas and January holiday timetables have been posted on the club’s website. Please become familiar with your child’s training schedule and speak with your coaches as soon as possible if you are planning to be away. We encourage all our CT teams to attend full training over the Christmas/January break to help maintain strength and conditioning as well as skill learning in preparation for the New Year. Whilst on your two weeks Christmas break it is important that all gymnasts remain active and follow your “Holiday Training Programs” that you will receive from your coaches before you break up.
Beginning 2009 our WAG competition teams will no longer be called CT but will be changed to Team 1, Team 2 etc to cater for various levels in one particular team. Shortly all current CT gymnasts will receive a letter of offer for a team spot in 2009.
2008 has been a very successful year for all our WAG gymnasts. We have appreciated everyone’s support to both coaches and the club. We look forward to another successful yet challenging year of competition for 2009. So parents please keep an eye our for offers and hand them back into the office ASAP. I wish all families a very Merry Christmas and a safe holiday.

The countdown is on as we are in the last few days until we send 13 eager boys down to Canberra for the 2008 MAG National Clubs Championships. Keep up the good work boys and we are certain it will reflect in your results in Canberra.

Remember MAG CT performances will commence with all of the CT performances at 6.00 PM, please ensure your son arrives by 5.45 PM where they will enter via the side door in the back gym, coaches will take gymnasts from there. A reminder that the costuming for displays are important and the boys must be in the following:
MAG CT Snr - Boardshorts and colour co ordinated singlet with their partner in the display.
MAG CT 2/3/4 - Need to dress up as convicts on the first fleet. Remember the boys still have to do gymnastics so ensure it is not to restrictive.
Time Schedule Change
As Gala is on this Saturday the MAG CT program will have some changes and the boys will be having a final run through at this session, so it is very important ALL MAG gymnasts turn up at the correct time.

MAG WEEK 5 UPDATE
The countdown has now begun for our end of year activities including Gala, National Clubs and our MAG outings, I can't actually believe I have been part of the Gold Coast Club for close to 10 months now and I thank all parents for making me feel very much part of the Gold Coast Club. As a MAG program we appreciate your feedback positives and negatives as we are always trying to improve our program to make it as successful as possible.
Competition Team Carnival - 15th November
Just to clarify the CT program Gala commences at 6.00 PM and will conclude at approximately 7.10 PM. After our gymnast displays there will be our parade of champions and displays from them as well. The following MAG athletes will be part of this for achieving a podium finish at State Championship's. * Dominic Bedggood * Shawn Rogers * Angus King * Brandon Sugars * Jack Elliot * Cory Hitchens * Cale Rankin * Reece Jackson * Rylee Jenkins * Indigo Dragon * David Tanner. All gymnasts listed must be in full competition attire ie longs/shorts, comp leotard and white socks if in longs. Also directly after our display our major awards for 2008 will be announced.
MAG National Clubs
Uniforms have now been ordered and will be ready the week before we go. To clarify this is a uniform the boys will wear on the planes and on any outings they do. It is important all gymnasts are identifiable and thus all boys must wear. A draft schedule for MAG National clubs is available by following this link http://www.gym.gymnastics.org.au/MAG-WAG/08%20National%20Clubs/2008%20Clubs_MAG%20draft%20schedule%2026%20Feb.pdf. Please note this is still DRAFT and subject to change. A reminder that we will be having a full competition attire mock competition on Saturday November 22nd and we will have a BBQ directly after as a social occasion. Food provided by us and soft drinks for the kids, but if you have special dietry requirements you may bring your own food to cook.
Ian Bartlett
For those unfamiliar with Ian, he is very much still part of our MAG program and will be working with some of our gymnasts over the next few weeks. Ian is a former Snr International athlete and has represented Australia. He must be good as he is formerly from NSW where he was the Men's Program Director for a while. So if you see Ian in the gym, say hello.
Don't forget Draft MAG training is now up for the December/January school holidays.
Photos Please. If you have not yet submitted any photos for our end of year slideshow please do so immediately. Some parents have sent some in already and I thank you, but please remember the larger the file (resolution) the better as images will be projected on the wall. Professional images from competitions always work well. As i am producing the show, please email directly to me now brett@goldcoastgymnastics.com
2009 Competition Calender
We will endeavour this week to have a draft calender up on the website for the majority of MAG competitions that the boys will be in next year. This should be up Wednesday, so please check back then. Just remember it will be DRAFT and subject to change, but will give you a better idea on when to plan holidays.
A few FAQ that have been asked of myself since I have been here which I felt important enought to give some answers to here.
Do we need to do holiday training ? The answer is simply yes. The boys work hard throughout the year and we give 4 weeks of official holiday's off to them, which we hope you will take advantage of and plan any trips then. If you look at each day they miss it will take two training sessions to get them back to where they were at.
If we are on holidays should we do any form of training or stretching ? Before you go away let your coach know and ask them if there is anything they should be doing whilst away. The answer will more than likely be yes. I am sure we are all more than happy to write a program for them when away.
My son doesn't like stretching, is it important ? YES. Flexibility is so important for gymnasts and they will find some skills difficult without it. Our coaches are experienced with stretching and flexibilty exercises.
These are just a few samples of questions that have been asked, but we are always more than happy to answer them No question is silly only the one you didn't ask.
Looking to a great week ahead, but to let you all know I will be away from the gym Thursday, Friday & Saturday. The boys will either have Myles or Ian when I am away.

MAG WEEK 4 UPDATE
Week 4 as we count down towards the end of the year. I would really like to get some feedback if as MAG parents you are happy to receive current information through the website with our MAG weekly update. Remember my email is brett@goldcoastgymnastics.com
Gala is well and truly upon us and we are getting into the swing of things. The MAG Snr Program have a theme of "Australian Summer" where the boys need to wear board shorts and a coloured singlet, the same as the gymnast they have been partnered with. MAG CT 4/3/2 are combined and have a general theme of convicts. Boys need to have the following - an old pair of pants that can be tattered and torn and a singlet that can also be tattered and torn. We have kept it all simple, but if you have any problems please see me or email me. Please note that if you don't return your Gala slips for participation we will assume your son is not participating, so please assist the MAG coaches and return your notes or let the office know you are going.
MAG National Clubs is only 4 weeks away and we are well and truly into routine mode. Please ensure if your son is going to National Clubs they don't miss any more training sessions. Remember National Clubs is a "Teams" event and gymnasts that miss training will effect the other boys in the team. There will be a full Mock competition on Saturday 22nd November, all boys must wear full competition attire and there will be family BBQ afterwards for all families of gymnasts going afterwards for you to meet our chaperones and ask any questions of coaches. We will be providing the BBQ and soft drinks but if you have any special dietary requirements you are more than welcome to bring your own food to cook.
All is go for the travel uniform for MAG National Clubs. All boys will have received a note in regards to this except CT 4 boys who will get these on Tuesday. Please ensure these are returned no later than this Wednesday 29th October. If you do not return the note we will order a uniform and if the sizing is incorrect there won't be anything we can do about it.
MAG Holiday Training for January 2009 has now been set. Session times will posted as a downloadable attachment available from this Wednesday. Also if you know you will be away for any dates from January 5th to January 23rd, please advise myself by email.
A reminder that the boys will be having a fun outing in December. MAG CT 2/3/4 will be on Saturday 13th December and MAG CT Snr on Sunday 14th December. All boys will receive a special invitation next week which you will need to return ASAP as we will need to make bookings.
Have a great week.

MAG WEEK 3 UPDATE
Can you believe it is week three already and time is fast ticking away. Normally term 4 is a wind up term and gradually quietens down, but no such luck on the Gold Coast as it appears to be getting busier. Please read below for some important information for this term.
Chocolate Drive - The chocolates have arrived for the boys going to Canberra. The 13 boys travelling will receive a note on their next training session in regards to selling these. If there are any boys not going that want to support the boys travelling to Canberra, please let us know if you would also like to sell a box. Rana Rankin is the person to see in regards to Chocolate selling (Cale's Mum).
Last week I asked if gymnasts going to Canberra would like a travel uniform for Canberra. As I have only had positive feedback in regards to this it looks like we will go ahead with this. A note will go out this week asking for your sons clothing size. The chocolate drive should cover this uniform, so there may not be any additional outlay (fingers crossed).
Gala extravaganza is fast approaching, I request that ALL gymnasts return the notes they were given last week if they are participating. We don't want gymnasts working on gala if for some reason they won't be there, so please return this note this week. MAG CT Snr have a theme of " A salute to Australian Music" and MAG CT 2/3/4 combine for a theme "Australian Summer". MAG CT Snr have been advised of their outfit to wear and MAG CT 2/3/4 will be advised this week. Don't worry we will keep it simple.
CT photographs will be taken this Saturday at 11.30 AM so don't be late as your child will simply miss out. Remember the uniform is competition leotard and competition shorts. For any boys in CT that do not have a competition outfit we will do our best to outfit you with our hire attire. Please see Maggie this Saturday 25th October between 11.00 AM - 11.15 AM to pick up. These must be returned immediately after the photos are taken.
Sleepover Saturday 25th October. At this point we have a very small amount of boys coming, so please don't leave it to the last minute, return your notes today and tomorrow so we can get organised for the night. Boys training until 4.00 PM may stay after training until the sleepover starts, to make it easier on parents. Brett & Myles will both be there for the night.
End of year FUN day. We are currently planning an end of year fun day for our MAG CT boys. Please keep the following dates free.
CT 2/3/4 - Saturday 13th December - late afternoon to finish early evening
CT Snr - Sunday 14th December - Daytime
As coaches of the MAG program we must say we are very happy with the progress the boys are currently making. We are enjoying working with all the boys as we work together towards having the most successful MAG Club program in Queensland.
State Squad training. The boys in the Queensland State Squad have training this Sunday 26th October. Session starts at 8.30 AM. Please advise Brett if for any reason you cannot attend.
Have a great week,

MAG REPORT
It is already week two and the year is slowly creeping away. The new programs appear to be working well with the boys settling into the new routine and adapting to the new structure.
Just as a reminder some boys are still coming to gym in their longs, the gym is getting hot and we want all boys in gymnastics shorts unless asked by their coaches to do so. Some of the newer boys in CT3 do need to wear training shorts and not just longs.
Some boys are still turning up late to training or not turning up without advising the office or letting their coach know. As we lead up to National Clubs, every session is important, so the less time you miss at training the better.
The final team for National Clubs has been decided, with the full team announced this Wednesday.
The last day for MAG CT boys will be Saturday 20th December and they will return January 5th. Full training sessions will be advised by week 5 of term, but let us know now if you know your son will not be back at training by the 5th January.
There will be a chocolate drive for gymnasts going to MAG National Clubs. Rana Rankin will be organsing this for MAG, so this will be a good opportunity for fundraising for the trip. If you have anymore ideas for fundraising for National Clubs specific, let me know.
Just as a reminder to all MAG CT parents, it is often a good idea to get information from the coaches and not rely on hearsay heard in the viewing room or other parents. All coaches are approachable on everything concerning MAG, so if you need to know anything, please ask.
Have a Great Week,

TERM 4 MAG CT NEWS UPDATE
Welcome back to all our MAG CT gymnasts for the new term. This is a fresh start for the MAG program with lots of changes put in place that will ensure that the program will continue to grow and be a successful program in the future. Please ensure that all parents are familiar with the new times and schedule and our MAG coaches request that all gymnasts are on time for training with all training attire.
Our Gala is well and truly creeping up on us on Saturday 15th November with the main theme being "Everything Australian". We will need help from mums/dads to help us with some props and costumes for the MAG display but our theme within the Australian genre will be decided early this week. So keep the 15th November free in your calendars. Times to be announced shortly.
The 2008 MAG National Clubs team will be finalised this Saturday. We will be only be taking 12 boys this year, but we do request that parents let the coaches do their jobs and select the best team to travel to Canberra. Please feel free to ask us questions in regards to the trip but our team selection will be final.
We are happy to announce that in 2009 we will be having a MAG component for the Wet 'n' Wild Carnival. Already we have had some positive feedback from QLD clubs and interstate clubs, so hopefully this will be one of the biggest MAG events on the competition calendar.
Holiday training for the January school holidays will be set no later than the 10th November. This should allow you to make plans for holidays. We will ensure in future that by the 5th week of term all holiday training will be available on the website so all families can make plans. We will be using the website as a communication tool as well, so check back each Monday afternoon for a MAG update.
If there are any MAG parents mums or dads interested in become a level 1 judge in 2009, please let me know. This is a good way to get an understanding of how judging works but also to get involved with the MAG program. Level 1 judges can judge level 1 & 2 at competitions so the probability of judging your own son is slight. There should be a level 1 judges course at the coaches congress late January 2009, so let me know if you are interested.
Well done to Shawn Rogers on his trip to New Zealand as an Australian representative. This was Shawn's first competition internationally in his new level 9. Shawn received a bronze medal on Parallel Bars.
Well done to our gymnasts of the term. MAG CT 1 - Jaydn Moss, MAG CT 2 - Daniel Jones, MAG CT 3 - Rylee Jenkins, MAG CT 3 Open - Chris Gunders, MAG CT 4/Snr - Angus King.
A reminder to MAG gymnasts, it is starting to get hot in the gym so dress appropriately for training which means no longs unless your coach has requested them. Please bring your longs to training.
Looking forward to a great term.
