Dates to keep in mind during Term 2:

Parents please be aware that we are starting to hit the colder months of the year so it is important to be picking up your child with a jumper and or warm clothing to help ensure that their bodies cool down after training adequately.  Although they always say they are warm when they hit the cool air their body temperature rises to counter act the cold therefore this does not allow the body to adjust to normal body temperature. Footwear is just as important. It is also a good idea to encourage your child to wear ¾ length tights and or full piece leotards to training to ensure that their muscles remain warm during training.

Club Attire: Our club polo shirt has just arrived this week and is now available for purchase. Please note that all gymnasts who are competing at Regionals are expected to wear the polo.

Parents please make sure that your child has the correct competition attire to compete e.g. tracksuit, club back pack, leotard. If you are still unsure as to what your child is expected to have for competition please see your child’s coach or administrations for a “Training and Competition attire” note.

If parents have any questions regarding WAG, please feel free to contact myself through email at: nadia@goldcoastgymnastics.com

MAG UPDATE

Competition season is well and truly upon us and the majority of our boys participated in a control test last week. At this point of time the boys are looking good with some areas to fix up, but overall we are pleased with their progress. Please be advised that boys competing in future competitions will have a final control test during their following sessions prior to Brisbane Grammar.

MAG CT 1 - Friday 1st May
MAG CT 2 - Thursday 30th April
MAG CT 3 - Wednesday 29th April
MAG CT 4 - Tuesday 28th April

Boys do not need to wear competition attire to this control test but may do if they choose to. It is important that all boys competing do not miss their control test.

The Brisbane Grammar Invitational schedule is now available, please ensure you know when your sons sessions commence and aim to be at the venue 30 minutes prior to the competition starting. This will allow for traffic and allow for the chance of getting lost. For those unsure of directions goto whereis.com.au and enter your starting point and in the destination put in Brisbane Grammar School, College Road with the suburb Spring Hill.

Session Times are as follows -

SATURDAY 2nd MAY
Levels 6 & 7 U/13 - 3.30 PM - 6.10 PM

SUNDAY 3rd MAY
Levels 1 & 2 - 9.00 AM - 11.45 AM
Level 3 - 11.50 AM - 2.05 PM
Levels 4 & 5 - 2.10 PM - 4.55 PM

As a reminder all gymnasts must be in full competition attire which includes the following -
* Competition leotard
* White competition longs
* Competition shorts
* Plain white socks (no branding on base of socks)
* Club tracksuit
* Guards for those that use them

NB : All gymnasts must be of neat appearance and this includes hair. Please ensure hair is neat and tidy. If hair is longer please ensure hair is either cut prior to competition or a product is used to hold it in place.

Queensland State Squad is on again on the 10th April at Chandler. We had a lot of boys absent from last session so am asking that we see all boys in attendance for this session please. Session times should be the same but will advise once confirmed.

Lawnton Invitational is also fast approaching on the weekend of 16th and 17th May (though will probably just be the 17th). As a reminder this is a teams event with no individual awards given out. Teams will be chosen by results at control tests and Brisbane Grammar Invitational and is at the discretion of the MAG coaching team. The decision made by the MAG team is final and we ask that parents this year respect the decisions made. This is also a levels test, with boys passing their levels receiving a badge at the end of the competition. Session times at this point have not been set but will be advised when they have.

Future Events
MAG Junior Regionals - Levels 2 - 5 - 23rd & 24th May
MAG Senior Regionals & State Team Trial - (This is for Jack in level 6 only) - 29th - 31st May

Gymnastics Clubs of Australia - Competition
Thank you to the parents that have returned the notes for expression of interest for this competition. At this stage we ahave 14 boys interested which will mean we will be going. We will information out shortly. If for some reason you have not returned the note please do so ASAP.

As a reminder to all parents, please ensure competition notes are returned on time by the due date. The last competition note we had a lot of notes returned after the due date and consequently parents were charged a late fee. Generally speaking if you know an event is coming up on the callender and for some reason you know you have not received a note, please ask for one.

There is no training on Saturday 25th April on Anzac Day. Training is as normal for Monday 27th April.
