Description
Cheerleading is a recreational activity and can be a competitive sport. Cheerleading is a fun, energetic sport, which incorporates dance, chants teamwork, sports acrobatics and tumbling. Cheerleading within Australia involves teams with 12 or more members performing displays, which may incorporate the use of hand apparatus such as Pom Poms or Flags.
Females make up a large percentage of the sport, however, males are particularly advantageous in cheerleading, as their strength and power assist in the explosive and exciting acrobatic stunts and tumbles.
Prerequisites
To join our cheerleading squad at Gold Coast Gymnastics Club, you must be over 8 years of age, able to follow instructions and be a team player.

Progression
Focuses on developing body positions, voice usage, jumping, motions and stunting. Cheerleaders will be introduced to forward rolls, handstands, cartwheels, roundoffs, halves and extensions, cradles, toe touches, right and left hurkies and pike jumps.
